FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR DRONE SERVICES

What you need to know

Yes, if you have the proper licensing. As a provider of drone photography in Houston, we ensure all of our unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operators are licensed pilots under FAA Part 107 UAS Airman Certificate and/or Section 333 Exemption.

Per FAA guidelines, UAS should not exceed 400 feet above ground level. Most of the time we don’t need to fly above 200 feet to capture the shot. However, there are exceptions such as wind turbine inspections or missions that require flights over other structures that are taller than 400-feet. These cases might require the procurement of a Certificate of Waiver from the FAA.

Licensed operators can fly within a five mile radius of an airport without the need to request permission from the FAA. If the project requires a flight within this boundary (controlled airspace), we are required to follow a standard protocol to request airspace authorization from the FAA and the local airport’s control tower. You can count on our experienced aerial drone operations team to conduct all due diligence with the required authorities to ensure maximum safety and compliance.

Although it is not restricted legally, flying a drone indoors to capture footage should only be attempted by a licensed professional who is experienced in these kinds of maneuvers while observing maximum safety practices. Other video capture options such as a dollies and sliders and gimbals can serve as alternatives if indoor environments are not safe for drone operations.

Pricing is based on many factors that include location, time required to complete the work, complexity of the shots required, format of final footage and many other considerations that make each project unique.
